Key Bible Verse: The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Dig Deeper:

[When] something triggers our sexual appetite and tempts us to veer off the path, what do we do? First, we pray a prayer of surrender to the Lord. We ask God for his strength in our weakness. Second, we fully embrace God’s grace the moment we surrender. We can ask for his direction about practical next steps. Third, we listen and wait, trusting the Holy Spirit to bring to mind any practical steps that are needed. Confess to an accountability buddy? Jog the neighbourhood? Spend five or ten minutes in prayer? Write in our new journal? If God isn’t clear about the very next step, we can trust they’re all connected and that each encourages and energizes the others. Once these steps have been taken, we celebrate any victories (no matter how small) and learn from our mistakes.

This is the essence of a grace-based approach to sexual integrity recovery. We’re not winking at sin; we’re partnering with God in a sanctification path that is being perfected until we reach the finish line or until the day God brings the finish line to us.
