Key Bible Verse: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.” (Isaiah 48:17)
Dig Deeper: Isaiah 48:12-22
Our culture is obsessed with [time management]. But [it’s] preoccupied with managing the chronos: minutes and hours and days.
For people of the kingdom, time management of a different sort is required: kairos management. For God has not merely placed us in time; he has promised to encounter us in it. He has designs upon it. Our dealings with time have to take account of this.
Traditional time-management techniques won’t spring us from the busyness trap. Squeezing still more tasks into still less time will fill our calendars, but it won’t fill our souls. The deeper concern must not be how we manage our time in a busy world but how we manage our inner world in a busy time.
The solution to the busyness trap is not to try to do it all but to discern what God wants us to do, in the way and at the time God wants us to do it, and to trust him with the rest.
