Nothing to Prove

freed-from-approval-seeking

Key Bible Verse: He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:14)

Dig Deeper: Colossians 2:13-23

The world does, of course, need men who are not only good men, but good at being men. We need quality, skilled, and diligent workers, creators, artists, and professionals, who make our world a better and more beautiful place by what they contribute. We like to work just like our Father likes to work! And we have been called to work (Gen. 1:28).

As a man with your relationship with your heavenly Father restored, you can step into your role as worker in God’s world with freedom and joy. You are not trying to prove anything. Your approval is secure in what Jesus did for you at the cross. Your Father’s benediction on Jesus, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, ” is also the benediction on your life. You can try and fail because your approval is secure. You can be rich toward God and others. Your life is not bound by getting ahead and proving that you are better than anyone. You are a forgiven and free man. Now you can do your work as unto the Lord because it is the Lord Christ you are serving (Col. 3:24).
