Cultivate Your Kids' Faith

Key Bible Verse: The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them. (Proverbs 20:7)

Dig Deeper: Colossians 3:16-21

Nothing draws us closer together with another human being than praying together does.

Take the time to learn to pray with your wife and children. Yes, this is difficult, [but] if we go on the premise that the more important something is, the more difficult it is to perform, then praying together must be really important. You need to be the one who initiates this, men. Part of your responsibility as leader in the home is one of a spiritual leader. Praying with your wife will bring you closer together in so many ways. My [relationship] with my wife is never stronger than when we are consistently praying together.

Praying with and for your children will open up avenues of trust and respect you never thought possible. The model you give them of a dad who prays is priceless. When your kids see a dad who prays, it develops respect as they know Dad is not just calling shots on his own but is accountable to the Creator of the universe. Girls need to see that a good man prays, and your sons need to see that a real man is a praying man.

And sometimes, all a man can do for his wife, children, and family is to pray for them.
