Strangers and Angels

meet-the-neighbours

Key Bible Verse: Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! (Hebrews 13:2)

Dig Deeper: Hebrews 13:1-3; 1 Peter 4:9

As we sat together a week or so later, I asked Jason if he believed in God. I will never forget his answer: “I never did, but now I know he is real because he is speaking to me through the Bible.”

Jason, a stranger who worked at a gas station, soon became my friend. We talked a lot over the next several months. He was living with his girlfriend, who was pregnant with his child. His wife, with whom he had a daughter, was now living with another guy, and she was pregnant with the other guy’s baby. Honestly, I didn’t know how to help him. Should he divorce his wife to marry his girlfriend, or should he make things right with his wife? In the end, neither woman wanted him. They weren’t at all interested in this new Jason.

Whenever I think of meeting Jason as a stranger and then seeing the transformation in his life, I cannot help but think of [today’s Key Bible Verse]. Granted, he would have been a fallen angel, but even so, meeting him and being allowed to play a small part in his life remains one of the most special experiences of my life.
