The Strength of Surrender

Key Bible Verse: In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage. (Philippians 2:5-6, NIV)

Dig Deeper:

Jesus chose to leave the comfort, beauty, splendour, and power of heaven to come to this broken earth. He humbled himself in the form of humanity, taking on flesh to die on a gnarled tree to set us free from the power of sin and death. Yet because of this act of dependence and weakness, God the Father lifted him up to a place of power. The resurrected Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven, the supreme position of power and glory. From this place of honour, one day in the future, he will come to judge the living and the dead. And on that day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord over all (see today’s Dig Deeper).

On that great day, I know what I’ll say to Jesus: “Lord, I am nothing. I am mere dust and ashes. I deserve eternal death. But I believe you were raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am so very weak. But you are so very strong. Your strength is perfected in my weakness, I praise you today and forever.”
