Study Passage: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

  1. What are some qualities the world values? What qualities does God value? (See Matt. 5:3-12; Gal. 5:22-26; Phil. 4:8; 1 Cor. 13:1-8.)
  2. Reflect on your current spheres of influence. Take inventory of any worldly values that are holding you back from boldly influencing others toward Christlikeness.
  3. Think of one or two younger men in your life. Commit to pray for their growth and be deliberate about finding ways to invest in their lives.

Spend Time In Prayer: Thank God for placing you in your current spheres of influence; ask him to expand your vision of the things he can accomplish through you.
