Key Bible Verse: [Fix your] eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12:2, NASB)
Dig Deeper: Hebrews 12:1-3
If your life is a story, who’s the author? We live in a world that says you and I are the ones in control of our stories. There is even an entire genre of books that we call “self-help”. The implicit promise of these books is that the solution for finding happiness, peace, and contentment lies within us.
But the real meaning doesn’t just lie within. The meaning is written into your life by God. If we are the authors, how can there be so many moments when the story feels completely out of our control? All the self-help books in the world can’t prevent us from discovering that sometimes you just can’t help yourself. Instead of struggling to control the story all by ourselves, we can choose to hand the pen and paper over to a Higher Power, and live out that story that he is writing.
To live recognizing your place in God’s story is to embark on an adventure. People might think you’re crazy for choosing a path like that. Sometimes you might think you’re crazy! But you know there is a path he wants you to walk. The story of your life is being written every moment of every day. But who is doing the writing?
